How to Use Turbo Groups: Join, Create, and Share a Group

Turbo groups are niche communities inside Tailwind Turbo. Learn how to join a group, create your own, invite others, and how your Pins get matched to a group's feed.

Turbo groups are niche communities inside Tailwind Turbo that help creators connect with others in their niche and find more Turbo Pins to engage with that are relevant to them.

When you join a group, you get a dedicated feed of Pins from members of the group, filtered for only those Pins that fit that group's topic. Likewise, your own relevant Turbo Pins are shown to those members. Pins are matched to groups automatically, so you never have to submit a Pin to a group by hand.

You can join a group from an invitation, a shared link, or a suggestion inside Tailwind.

You can also create your own from the My Groups page, and invite others by link or email.

You can earn Turbo Pins by inviting others to Turbo groups (see below).

What are Turbo groups?

The main Turbo Feed shows Pins from the whole Turbo community. A group narrows that down to creators in a specific niche, such as a type of recipe, a style of home decor, or a kind of small business. Being in a group gives you three things:

  • A group feed. A filtered view of the Turbo Feed showing only Pins from that group's members that fit the group's topic.

  • A highly relevant audience for your Pins. Your active Turbo Pins that fit the group are shown to the other members in their group feed.

  • Priority in the main feed. Pins from people who share a group with you are also prioritized in your main Turbo Feed, and yours are prioritized in theirs.

Everything else about Turbo works the same way inside a group. You still engage through Pinterest using the Tailwind Turbo browser extension, and your saves, comments, and click-throughs still count toward earning new Turbo Pins.

Groups are organized per Pinterest account. If you have more than one Pinterest account connected to Tailwind, each account joins groups separately and has its own My Groups list. Use the account switcher in the navigation bar to see each account's groups.

Why this matters for your Pinterest strategy

Early engagement is one of the strongest signals Pinterest uses to decide how widely to distribute a Pin, and engagement is most meaningful when it comes from people who genuinely care about the topic. A creator in your niche is more likely to save your Pin to a relevant board, leave a thoughtful comment, or click through to read the post.

Groups make that kind of engagement easier to find. Instead of hoping the right creators come across your Pin in the main feed, you put it in front of people who make and enjoy content like yours, and you get a feed full of Pins you'll actually want to engage with.

How to join a group

There are three ways into a group: a shared link, an email invitation, or a suggestion inside Tailwind. Joining is free, and you can join with any Pinterest account connected to Tailwind.

  1. Open the group link. It takes you to the group's page, where you can see its name, description, member count, and top Pins before you decide.

  2. Click Join this group.

  3. If you're new to Tailwind, you'll create an account and connect your Pinterest account first, and we'll bring you into the group from there. If you already have a Tailwind account, use Log in at the top of the group page first.

  4. If you have one Pinterest account connected, you're joined automatically. If you have several, choose the account you want under Join as:

  5. When you see You're in!, click View group feed to start exploring. If you don't have the Turbo browser extension yet, you'll be prompted to install it so you can engage with the group's Pins.

Join from an email invitation

Any member of a group can invite you by email. The email includes a link to the same group page, and the steps from there are the same as above. Joining through the link in your email also lets the member who invited you see that you've joined.

Join from a suggestion inside Tailwind

Tailwind suggests groups that fit the content you're already pinning. You may see a suggestion in a few places:

  • In the Turbo Feed: a "Join [group name]" card above the feed. Click Join group, or Not now to hide it.

  • After adding a Pin to Turbo: a "This Pin fits [group name]" message with a link to join.

  • In the Pin Scheduler: a note that a draft "Fits [group name]", or that creators in a group share content like yours, with a Join link.

  • On the My Groups page: if you aren't in any groups yet, a "Groups for your Pins" section pairs your recent Turbo Pins with a group each one fits.

There isn't a directory for browsing or searching groups yet, so links, invitations, and suggestions are the ways to find one.

Good to know

  • A group can have up to 1,000 members. A full group can't accept new members until someone leaves.

  • To join the same group with a second Pinterest account, open the group link again and pick the account under Join as another account:

How to create a group

  1. In Tailwind, go to Turbo and open the My Groups page.

  2. Click Create group.

  3. Fill in the group details (see below).

  4. Click Create group.

You become the group's Owner, and your active Turbo Pins are matched to the new group automatically. From there, share the group link to bring in members.

Group details

  • Logo (optional): an image shown on the group's page and in My Groups.

  • Group name: up to 100 characters. Make it clear what the group is about.

  • Slug (URL identifier): the last part of your group's link. It's filled in from the name automatically, and you can edit it. Use 3 to 50 lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens. Each slug must be unique, so if yours is taken you'll be asked to try a different one.

  • Description (optional): up to 500 characters. This is what visitors and members read on the group's page, so write it for people.

  • Content focus: up to 500 characters describing the kinds of Pins that belong in the group. Members don't see this.

Writing a good Content focus

The Content focus is what Tailwind uses to decide which Pins belong in your group's feed, so the more specific it is, the better your feed will be. Describe the topics, themes, and keywords you want, and say what to leave out. For example: "At-home fitness and healthy recipes for women: strength, yoga, HIIT, meal plans, and habit tracking. Not gym bodybuilding or medical content."

If you leave the Content focus blank, Tailwind matches Pins using your group's name and description instead. You can edit it at any time, and when you do, members' Pins are matched again against the updated text.

How to share a group and invite members

Any member can share a group or send invitations. You don't have to be the owner.

On the My Groups page, find the group and click Copy link in the Join link column. You can also click Copy group link on the group's own page.

The link is the same for every member and doesn't expire, so you can paste it anywhere: a message to a friend, a Facebook group, a newsletter, or a blog post. It opens the group's public page, which shows the name, description, member count, and top Pins, so people can see what the group is about before they join.

Invite by email

  1. On the My Groups page, click Invite next to the group. (You'll also find Invite others to this group on the group's page once you're a member.)

  2. Enter one or more email addresses, separated by commas, spaces, or new lines. You can send up to 100 at a time.

  3. Click Send invites.

Each person receives an email invitation with a link to the group. Below the form, Invitations sent lists your invitations with a status:

  • Sent: the invitation email went out.

  • Joined: the person joined using the link in their invitation email.

If someone you invite to a Turbo Group joins Turbo for the first time through your email invitation link, you will receive a Turbo Pin as a reward - up to 10 total lifetime Turbo Pins.

If someone you invited joins through the regular group link instead of the link in their email, their invitation stays at Sent even though they're in the group. Check the member list to confirm who has joined.

Owners and admins can see every invitation sent for the group, with addresses invited by other members partly hidden for privacy. Other members see only the invitations they sent themselves.

Invitation limits

  • You can't invite an email address that already belongs to a member of the group.

  • Once you've invited an address, you can't send that same address another invitation to the same group for 30 days.

  • There are daily limits on how many invitations an account and a group can send. If you see a message about too many invitations in the last 24 hours, wait a day and try again, or share the group link instead.

How Pins end up in a group

You don't add Pins to a group directly. Matching is automatic:

  1. You add Pins to Turbo as usual from the My Pins page.

  2. Tailwind reviews each active Turbo Pin against every group you belong to, comparing the Pin's content with what the group is about.

  3. Pins that fit appear in the group's feed for the other members. Pins that don't fit stay out of that group's feed, but they're still part of the main Turbo Feed as normal.

When matching happens

  • When you join or create a group: your existing active Turbo Pins are matched to it. This usually takes a few minutes.

  • When you add a new Pin to Turbo: it's matched against all of your groups.

  • When the owner updates the group's name, description, or Content focus: members' Pins are matched again.

Good to know

  • Only active Turbo Pins are matched. If you don't have any active Turbo Pins, there's nothing to show the group yet.

  • A group feed shows other members' Pins, not your own. To see your Pins, go to My Pins.

  • A Pin can appear in more than one group if it fits each of them.

  • Because off-topic Pins are held back, a group's feed stays focused on its niche. If your content covers several topics, only the Pins that fit a group will appear there.

  • If you leave a group, your Pins stop appearing in its feed.

Viewing your group feed

Open the Turbo Feed and look at the filter above the Pins. Once you're in at least one group, a Group option appears next to Category, Board, and Friends. Select it, then choose a group from the dropdown. If you're in two or more groups, choose All groups to see them combined.

A blue dot next to a group, or next to the Group option itself, means there are new Pins you haven't seen since your last visit.

If a group's feed has few or no Pins, you'll see one of these messages:

  • "We're matching Pins to this group": you joined recently and matching is still running. Check back in a few minutes.

  • "Add a Pin to get started": you don't have any active Turbo Pins yet. Add one and it will be matched to the group.

  • "This group's feed is still growing": the group is new or small. Use Browse all Turbo Pins or Search by topic to keep engaging in the meantime, and Copy group invite link to help the group grow.

Managing a group

To see who's in a group, go to My Groups and click the member count next to the group. The list shows each member's name, role, and the date they joined.

Roles

  • Owner: the person who created the group, or the member ownership was transferred to. The owner can edit the group's details, promote members to admin, demote admins, approve or decline admin requests, remove any member, and transfer ownership.

  • Admin: can promote members to admin, remove regular members, and see all invitations sent for the group.

  • Member: can view the group feed, share the group link, send email invitations, and volunteer to become an admin.

Owners and Admins manage members from the menu at the end of each row in the member list: Promote to admin, Demote to member, or Remove from group.

Edit group details

The owner can click the pencil icon next to the group name in My Groups to change the logo, name, slug, description, or Content focus. If you change the slug, the group's link changes too, so share the new link with anyone who had the old one.

Volunteer to be an admin

Members can click Volunteer to admin next to a group in My Groups. The owner sees the request under Pending admin requests in the member list and can Approve or Decline it. You can withdraw a request with Cancel admin request. If a request is declined, you can ask again after 30 days.

Transfer ownership

The owner can click Transfer next to the group, select a member, and confirm. The new owner takes over right away, and the previous owner stays in the group as an admin.

Leaving or deleting a group

  • To leave a group: go to My Groups, click Leave next to the group, and confirm.

  • If you're the owner and the group has other members: you'll need to hand the group over first. Click Leave, choose the new owner, and click Transfer & leave.

  • If you're the owner and the only member: the button reads Delete. Deleting a group is permanent, and its link stops working.

After you leave a group, Tailwind stops suggesting it to you. You can rejoin at any time using the group link.

Troubleshooting and FAQ

I don't see a My Groups tab in Turbo.

Open the My Groups page directly. The tab is added to your Turbo navigation once you join your first group. If you just joined and still don't see it, refresh the page.

I don't see the Group option in the Turbo Feed filter.

The Group option only appears for a Pinterest account that belongs to at least one group. If you have several Pinterest accounts, use the account switcher to make sure you're viewing the account you joined with.

Why isn't my Pin showing in the group?

Check these in order:

  • You won't see your own Pins in a group feed. The feed shows other members' Pins, and they see yours.

  • The Pin has to be an active Turbo Pin. Pins that aren't currently active in Turbo aren't shown to groups.

  • If you just joined the group or just added the Pin, give matching a few minutes.

  • The Pin may not fit the group's topic. Pins outside a group's focus are left out of its feed but still appear in the main Turbo Feed.

The group feed is empty.

New and small groups can have very few Pins, because only Pins that fit the group's topic are shown. Inviting more creators in the niche is the fastest way to fill the feed. In the meantime, use Browse all Turbo Pins to keep engaging in the main feed.

The link may have been copied incorrectly, the group's slug may have been changed, or the group may have been deleted. Ask the person who shared it for a fresh copy of the link.

I'm asked to connect a Pinterest account before joining.

Groups are joined with a Pinterest account, so you need at least one connected to Tailwind. Click Connect Pinterest, finish connecting your account, then open the group link again to join.

I joined with the wrong Pinterest account.

Open the group link again and choose the correct account under Join as another account:. Then switch to the other account with the account switcher, go to My Groups, and click Leave.

My email invitation didn't send.

The form shows the reason next to each address that wasn't sent. The most common reasons are that the address isn't valid, the person is already in the group, you've already invited that address in the last 30 days, or a daily invitation limit has been reached. You can always share the group link instead.

The group says it has reached its maximum member limit.

Groups hold up to 1,000 members. You can join once a spot opens up, or look for another group in the same niche.

Can I browse or search for groups?

Not yet. For now you can join through a shared link, an email invitation, or a suggestion inside Tailwind.
