Email marketing involves more than just writing an email and clicking send -- email marketing relies heavily on reputation, valuable content, engaged subscribers, and an interactive marketing platform. All of these factors can influence whether or not your campaign is delivered correctly.

Here are some troubleshooting steps to help you investigate why your emails aren't delivering. ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ

  • First, check the Spam and Junk folders of your email to make sure it didn't get sent there instead of your inbox.

  • Not in your Spam or Junk folders? In your Tailwind dashboard under Email Campaigns, select the Outbox tab. Is the email there? If so, check the status:

    • In queue: there is a delay in delivery. If you edit, reprogram, or send your newsletter again it will lose priority.

    • In review: Someone is currently looking at your newsletter because it was caught by our monitoring system. If there is any problem with your content, someone will contact you.

  • Still can't find it? Check your from email. Often it is the from email address that prevents your email from being delivered. Using your website domain is always the best way to ensure that your subscribers will recognize your email address when it lands in their inbox. Here are some factors that could impact email delivery in this situation:

    • Most webmail addresses, such as @gmail and @hotmail, can cause delivery issues. Using a webmail address to send your emails is never a good idea.

    • Email addresses ending in @aol or @yahoo cannot be used by third-party services like Tailwind.

  • Did you send to a large list? To maintain the stability of their networks, email service providers sometimes throttle (slow down) the number of emails they receive from a given domain. This can cause delays, but the email will be delivered within a few hours as long as it is not spam.

  • Is the content in your email spammy? Avoid spam words, balance your image-to-text ratio, and send relevant information to your contacts.
