Pin Spacing is a new feature designed to help you follow best practices on Pinterest by avoiding repetitive posting and improving how your content is distributed across your schedule. With Pin Spacing, you can set rules to control how far apart your Pins for the same URL appear in your calendar.

✨ What is Pin Spacing?

Pin Spacing allows you to:

  • Automatically space Pins to the same URL by a minimum number of days (default is 7)

  • Set different spacing rules for different URLs (great for seasonal or evergreen content)

  • Choose whether to apply the rule to new Pins only or shift already scheduled Pins

  • Override or edit spacing manually when needed

🔧 How It Works

When you turn on Pin Spacing, you’ll choose a default spacing rule (example: 7 days). You’ll then be asked if you want to:

  • Apply this rule only to scheduled Pins going forward

  • Shift currently scheduled Pins to abide by this rule

If you choose to shift existing Pins, we’ll automatically rearrange them to honor the spacing rule as closely as possible using available time slots. If your schedule is full, the next available date might be more than 7 days away.

Note: Locked Pins will not be affected by Pin Spacing rules. Only unlocked Pins can be shifted.

Custom Rules for Specific URLs

You can also set spacing rules for individual URLs. This is helpful for:

  • Time-sensitive or seasonal content

  • High-volume URLs that need more tailored scheduling

To do this:

  1. Search for a URL that has scheduled Pins

  2. Choose your desired spacing (e.g. 5 days, 10 days, etc.)

  3. Decide if the rule should apply to just future Pins or also shift existing ones

You’ll be able to see:

  • How many Pins are scheduled for a specific URL

  • The date range those Pins fall under

This helps you plan ahead and spot gaps in your content strategy.

📝 A Few Things to Note

  1. Draft Pins won’t appear in the URL list. Only currently scheduled Pins are included and a URL will only appear in the list if you have active, scheduled Pins for it. Pins scheduled in the past or still in draft mode will not be counted or displayed.

  2. You can override the rules anytime. If you move a Pin or schedule something that breaks your spacing rule, we’ll simply let you know and let you choose whether to continue.

  3. Pin Intervals still exist. You can switch between using Pin Spacing or custom intervals for more control over bulk schedules.

  4. Pin Spacing is flexible. You’re always in control and can change your rules as needed.

💡 Tips and Best Practices

  • We recommend a 7-day spacing rule to keep your content varied and avoid over-pinning the same link.

  • If you schedule a large batch of Pins, check your calendar to make sure the timing still aligns with your goals.

  • You can return to the Pin Spacing settings at any time from your Smart Schedule view.
