Tailwind for Instagram's Hashtag Finder suggests the best hashtags for you to add to your Instagram posts. Using the right hashtags will help you reach more of the right people with each new post.

How to find hashtags

1. Go to your Drafts Page (located in the left-hand navigation) and open a draft, or upload a new draft using the Upload option on the Homepage

2. On a new draft post, you will see a few of your Recently Used Hashtags or Suggested Hashtags

3. To find your Suggested Hashtags, start by typing a few words in your caption. As you type your caption, Tailwind will recommend relevant and related hashtags.

4. The Tailwind Hashtag Finder now suggests a bunch of other related hashtags. The suggested hashtags are color-coded to help you differentiate the “best” hashtags from “good,” “niche,” or highly “competitive” ones.

Light green = Good; they have a moderate amount of usage and may be well-targeted to your audience.

Dark green = Best; as they have a significant volume of usage and may also be well-targeted to your audience.

Red = Competitive; they tend to be very broad and popular, use them sparingly.

Expert Tips:

  • Each time you add another hashtag, more suggestions will come up for you to choose from.

  • Hover your mouse over any hashtag to see how many times it appears on posts.

  • You can click the X button on the right side of any hashtag to dismiss it, and see a new suggestion in its place.

  • The handy Hashtag Counter at the bottom left of the caption area counts up the hashtags on your caption as you go so that you don’t have to, letting you know if you exceed Instagram’s 30 hashtag limit.

  • We recommend a blend of hashtags that are popular, but not too popular, along with some niche and a few highly competitive ones too.
